TanDEM and Kituo cha Elimu Meserani

As we are still in our first year, we are concentrating on those courses with the greatest demand - English and Computers. There are three levels to the English course and two to the computers (although this will increase as students increase their abilities). We also offer reading and writing and primary maths courses to allow some of the more traditional members of the community to begin their learning.

Courses are taught mainly in Swahili, although there is an English option for computers, and lessons vary in length from 1 to 2 hours depending on subject. Each course lasts 10 weeks (20 lessons) followed by an assessment in the 11th week and finishing up with a graduation celebration.

We are always looking to develop our courses to best fit the demands of our students, and through our regular student evaluations we get many suggestions that we act upon before starting the next series of courses. Following the most recent evaluation we are in the process of a major change in course structure with a move to longer courses with longer lessons. We're hoping this change will happen in September.
