Our Organisation
There are 2 organisations that work together to make Kituo cha Elimu Meserani work - TanDEM, in England, and Kituo cha Elimu Meserani, in Tanzania.
TanDEM is the organisation that started as the Tanzania Education Project, before briefly being known as Kumbuka Kesho. It is this organisation that built the centre and it is TanDEM that do all the fundraising to support the centre. Based at the University of Nottingham, TanDEM is an entirely voluntary organisation. Not only do they provide the continual funding for the centre, but they also look at the resources the centre needs and try to source them in England. Many of the voluntary team get the opportunity to visit the centre in the summer months and see the fruits of their hard work.
Kituo cha Elimu Meserani is the organisation which is responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre, and how it shall react to the requests of the community. Soon to be an NGO, the board of trustees will consist of 8 locals (all users of the centre) and 2 foreigners (1 from TanDEM and 1 who lives locally).
Working closely, both organisations share the same slogan - "Kumbuka Kesho: Remember Tomorrow".
